NFL Week 17 and bowl games

I was 1-3 last week bringing my record to 42-39-3, not too impressive. :(

NFL is tough this week, we do not know who will be playing for how long with the playoff teams or how much some players really care about the last game. Bowl games are tough too, who wants to be there. Free advice, do NOT touch the OU vs. Iowa game with a 10 foot pole. Both teams have players leaving/injured or suspended. OU does not want to be there and I am thinking Iowa does not either.

We will start with Bowl games through Jan 1.
Texas and California matchup in the Holiday Bowl. Texas has a very good defense and a running game. QB play is questionable. Texas is -3.5. I do not know if Cal will score more than 10 in this one. Hook 'em Horns, Texas covers.

Baylor and Washington square off in the Alamo Bowl. Baylor is coming off its best season in a LONG time and have a Heisman winner to boot! Baylor wants to be at this game, Baylor will score at least 45 and I do not think Washington will be used to the (underrated) speed of Baylor. Baylor covers -9.5.

Iowa St and Rutgers square off in the Pinstripe Bowl. WR Sanu for Rutgers is a potent weapon but he will be held in check by shutdown corner Johnson of ISU. ISU is +1.5 but I expect ISU to win outright 27-14.

I guess I am going with the Big 12 this week, hopefully the top conference will not let me down. Take ISU +1.5, Baylor -9.5 and Texas -3.5.

To the NFL:

NY Giants are -3 at home against Dallas. I think the Giants roll and look for a coaching change in Dallas after the season. Jason Garret has shown a lack of football smarts in multiple games this season.

online gaming getting closer?

This linked article coincides with something I posted a couple of months ago regarding online gaming in the US. Although nothing concrete comes out of this at this point it is just another sign that online gaming may become a reality in the next year or so. Let's hope that is the case.

NFL Week 16 and some bowl games

Hey all, sorry I missed out on posting last week. I wish I would have, I had a few wins but I will not count them. :( My last post I went 2-2 bringing my overall record to 41-36-3. This week I will pick some bowl games and NFL games.

I will go through the Dec 24th with bowl games, we will start with what I think is the biggest lock of bowl season.

Boise St and Arizona St match up in the Maaco Bowl. Boise St is -14 with Moore playing his last game at QB. Boise always wants to destroy BCS teams whenever they play, even in a crap bowl game like this. ASU had a coach get fired so do they really want to be there? Take Boise St -14.

TCU (-9.5) plays Southern Miss in the Poinsettia Bowl. I think TCU crushes Southern Miss, they had their bowl game already against Houston. Take TCU and they come into the Big 12 with a bowl win.

To the NFL...Oakland at KC where KC has not won since like 2006 which
is kind of crazy. This has come down to a pick 'em and I am going with KC. I know they had a huge win last week but their D is solid and with Kyle Orton throwing the ball KC actually looks like an NFL team.

San Diego is +2.5 at Detroit, Rivers is 23-2 in December and I think San Diego is hitting their stride. Now I think Norv Turner is one of the worst head coaches in the NFL but I think they win outright at Detroit, take the Chargers.

Quick recap in college take Boise St -14 and TCU -9.5. In the NFL take KC straight up and San Diego +2.5.

Army vs. Navy College Football and NFL week 14

I was 4-3 last week bringing my season record to 39-34-3. One college game this week, Army vs Navy. There will be a huge audience for this game and it is a great game to watch.

Navy is -7 vs. Army. As stated previously this is always a great game to watch with lots of pride on the line for both teams. The records are close in this game and Navy has played a pretty tough schedule this season. I think this game is close in the first half but Navy pulls away in the third quarter. Take Navy to cover the 7 and wins something like 34-21.

To the NFL:
Oakland +11.5 visits Green Bay. I think Aaron Rodgers is slowed down a bit but Green Bay still wins handily. Take the Packers to cover the 11.5.

Houston is +3 is a road dog at Cincy. The Houston D is outstanding even with Williams out. I know they are down to 3rd string at QB but Andre Johnson is there and so is Foster. I think Houston wins outright.

San Fran is -4 at Arizona. The Cardinals have been playing better lately but I think San Fran wins this game by about 10 pts, 20-10 in that range. Take the Niners.

Quick recap: Take Green Bay -11.5, Houston +3 and San Fran -4.
