NFL Week 17 and bowl games

I was 1-3 last week bringing my record to 42-39-3, not too impressive. :(

NFL is tough this week, we do not know who will be playing for how long with the playoff teams or how much some players really care about the last game. Bowl games are tough too, who wants to be there. Free advice, do NOT touch the OU vs. Iowa game with a 10 foot pole. Both teams have players leaving/injured or suspended. OU does not want to be there and I am thinking Iowa does not either.

We will start with Bowl games through Jan 1.
Texas and California matchup in the Holiday Bowl. Texas has a very good defense and a running game. QB play is questionable. Texas is -3.5. I do not know if Cal will score more than 10 in this one. Hook 'em Horns, Texas covers.

Baylor and Washington square off in the Alamo Bowl. Baylor is coming off its best season in a LONG time and have a Heisman winner to boot! Baylor wants to be at this game, Baylor will score at least 45 and I do not think Washington will be used to the (underrated) speed of Baylor. Baylor covers -9.5.

Iowa St and Rutgers square off in the Pinstripe Bowl. WR Sanu for Rutgers is a potent weapon but he will be held in check by shutdown corner Johnson of ISU. ISU is +1.5 but I expect ISU to win outright 27-14.

I guess I am going with the Big 12 this week, hopefully the top conference will not let me down. Take ISU +1.5, Baylor -9.5 and Texas -3.5.

To the NFL:

NY Giants are -3 at home against Dallas. I think the Giants roll and look for a coaching change in Dallas after the season. Jason Garret has shown a lack of football smarts in multiple games this season.

online gaming getting closer?

This linked article coincides with something I posted a couple of months ago regarding online gaming in the US. Although nothing concrete comes out of this at this point it is just another sign that online gaming may become a reality in the next year or so. Let's hope that is the case.

NFL Week 16 and some bowl games

Hey all, sorry I missed out on posting last week. I wish I would have, I had a few wins but I will not count them. :( My last post I went 2-2 bringing my overall record to 41-36-3. This week I will pick some bowl games and NFL games.

I will go through the Dec 24th with bowl games, we will start with what I think is the biggest lock of bowl season.

Boise St and Arizona St match up in the Maaco Bowl. Boise St is -14 with Moore playing his last game at QB. Boise always wants to destroy BCS teams whenever they play, even in a crap bowl game like this. ASU had a coach get fired so do they really want to be there? Take Boise St -14.

TCU (-9.5) plays Southern Miss in the Poinsettia Bowl. I think TCU crushes Southern Miss, they had their bowl game already against Houston. Take TCU and they come into the Big 12 with a bowl win.

To the NFL...Oakland at KC where KC has not won since like 2006 which
is kind of crazy. This has come down to a pick 'em and I am going with KC. I know they had a huge win last week but their D is solid and with Kyle Orton throwing the ball KC actually looks like an NFL team.

San Diego is +2.5 at Detroit, Rivers is 23-2 in December and I think San Diego is hitting their stride. Now I think Norv Turner is one of the worst head coaches in the NFL but I think they win outright at Detroit, take the Chargers.

Quick recap in college take Boise St -14 and TCU -9.5. In the NFL take KC straight up and San Diego +2.5.

Army vs. Navy College Football and NFL week 14

I was 4-3 last week bringing my season record to 39-34-3. One college game this week, Army vs Navy. There will be a huge audience for this game and it is a great game to watch.

Navy is -7 vs. Army. As stated previously this is always a great game to watch with lots of pride on the line for both teams. The records are close in this game and Navy has played a pretty tough schedule this season. I think this game is close in the first half but Navy pulls away in the third quarter. Take Navy to cover the 7 and wins something like 34-21.

To the NFL:
Oakland +11.5 visits Green Bay. I think Aaron Rodgers is slowed down a bit but Green Bay still wins handily. Take the Packers to cover the 11.5.

Houston is +3 is a road dog at Cincy. The Houston D is outstanding even with Williams out. I know they are down to 3rd string at QB but Andre Johnson is there and so is Foster. I think Houston wins outright.

San Fran is -4 at Arizona. The Cardinals have been playing better lately but I think San Fran wins this game by about 10 pts, 20-10 in that range. Take the Niners.

Quick recap: Take Green Bay -11.5, Houston +3 and San Fran -4.

NCAA Week 14 and NFL Week 13

I went 4-3 last week in my picks bringing my record to 35-31-3 for the football season.

Championship weekend is upon us for most conferences. I do not like many of the games. I will start with the final week of the regular season in the Big 12.

Iowa State (+11) visits the little apple, Manhattan,KS. I am a huge Iowa St. fan and I have to admit, I cannot stand Kansas St. I felt Bill Snyder used to run up the score on Dan McCarney. KSU has won the last 2 by a combined 8 points. I think Paul Rhoads not only covers this spread but wins outright. Take the Cyclones!

Game 2: Pitt hosts Syracuse (+10.5) Syracuse on the road with a bad coach is not a good combination. Pitt wins this one and covers. the final score ends up being something like 37-17 Pitt.

Game 3: West Virginia (-1) visits South Florida in essentially a pick 'em game. Well guess what, I pick West Virginia.

Game 4: San Diego St (-7.5) is at home against Fresno St. Fresno has not had a good year and they are going to end with a huge loss. Take SDSU.

Quick recap: ISU +11, Pitt -10.5, West Virginia -1 and SDSU -7.5

To the NFL
Oakland is +3 on the road @ Miami, I think Carson Palmer throws for 3 scores and Michael Bush runs for one. Take the Raiders.

Once again I find it hard to believe that Minnesota is favored over anyone. Can they stop Tebow mania? Take the Broncos +1.

I was burned last week with Detroit and an over, guess what, I am going for it again. The O/U between Detroit and New Orleans is 54.5. New Orleans may get that themselves! Take the over.

Quick recap Oakland +3, Denver +1 and the over in the Detroit vs. New Orleans game.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

NCAA Football Week 13 and NFL Week 14

2-3 last week. I am at 31-28-3 overall. If anyone saw my preseason predictions I had ISU beating #3 OSU 34-31. I suppose I will settle for Iowa State beating #2 Oklahoma State 37-31. I will try and get better going forward. :)

Enough with giving myself the pat on the back, I need to improve my picks. There are several key and intersting matchups this week with HUGE implications for not only bowl selections but for a possible BCS Championship!

Game 1 Houston -3 @ Tulsa. Houston needs this to keep any hopes of a BCS bid alive. I think they get it done. I expect a lot points in this game.

Game 2 Cincinnati (-2.5) visits Syracuse. There are QB issues with Cincy but i think they pull this one out. There are a lot of athletes on this Cincy team and I do not think the coaching is that great at Syracuse.

Game 3 Clemson (+4.5) visits South Carolina. Clemson was humiliated last week, coming into a rivalry and probably looking ahead to this game. I expect Clemson to come out swinging and win this game outright. Take Clemson.

Game 4 Tennessee (-8) is looking to get bowl eligible against a struggling Kentucky team. Tenn finishes the season strong and makes it into a bowl game. Take Tenn and don't look back.

Game 5 Stanford (-7) hosts Notre Dame. Stanford feels like they can back door into the national championship game. I think Andrew Luck wants to get back into the Heisman race. Stanford will lay the wood to the Golden Domers. Stanford in this one.

Quick college recap, take Houston -3, Cincy -2.5, Clemson +4.5, Tenn -8 and Stanford -7.

To the NFL

Green Bay is at Detroit for the annual Thanksgiving Day game. I think the Over/Under is the play in this one. I am taking the over of 55.5. There will be a lot of points scored in this game. Take the Over!

Carolina -3 is on the road at Indianapolis. I think Indy keeps their perfect season alive. Cam Newton may throw for 3oo and run for 75 in this game. Take the Panthers.

Take the Over in the Green Bay vs. Detroit and Carolina -3 on the road.

NCAA football Week 12 and NFL week 11

I was atrocious last week with a 1-4 record, 29-25-3 is my season total. There is work to do this week so I better make it good!

There are a few games I like and including one NCAA basketball game. Let's start with that. I will keep a separate tabulation of my basketball results, I generally do not pick basketball games since they are so up/down via emotion.

The NCAA basketball game will be in Des Moines, IA on 11-15-11 at the Knapp Center. Iowa State (-3.5) visits the Drake Bulldogs. Drake is bad and coach Mark Phelps will be on the hot seat before conference play even starts. Take ISU, they win this game going away.

Onto NCAA football...We are staying local again, this time in Ames, IA. Iowa State +26.5 comes off a bye week and Okie St. comes off of a woodshed beating of Texas Tech. I have ISU's record correct from my preseason prediction so far. From my prediction you will see I have ISU picked to win this game. A lot will have to go right but I think ISU covers the 26.5. Take the 'Clones at home!

Game 2 Another local team, Iowa travels to Purdue. Iowa is favored (-2.5). Starting QB James Vandenberg has not won a single road game in his career, I think that continues. Take Purdue +2.5.

Game 3 Georgia Tech (-10) visits Duke. GA Tech is a tough team to prepare for especially when you are Duke. Take Tech to cover and probably win by 20.

Quick recap, take ISU +26.5, Purdue +2.5 and Georgia Tech -10.

NFL Miami is -2 vs. Buffalo. Time to break up the Dolphins after their 2 game winning streak. The streak ends, Buffalo wins this and Fred Jackson has a HUGE game.

Minnesota is -1.5 at home against Oakland. I do not know how Minnesota can be favored. Take Oakland and watch Carson Palmer throw all over the Metrodome.

Quick recap take Buffalo +2 and Oakland +1.5.

Legalized sports betting and online gaming

The people of New Jersey voted themselves the right to bet on sports as long as the federal government lifts the ban. I think it is a step in the right direction in allowing personal freedoms to triumph in the US.

In my homestate of Iowa we are seeing a movement which would allow betting on horses at Prairie Meadows which is near Des Moines via the internet. Along with this a study is going to be conducted that would allow intrastate poker. Again, this is a win for personal freedoms and the 98% of responsible players out there. Here is a link to the story.

NCAA Football week 11 & NFL week 10 picks ATS

I went 4-4 last week against the spread, 28-21-3 is now my overall record.
Not too many games stick out to me this week so let's get them all correct.

On my soapbox real quick. Joe Paterno must go. Pedophiles and child abuse disgust me. He Joe done the right thing many other boys would not have gone through the nightmares they had to live through. Shame on Joe and shame on Penn State.

Game 1: Ohio (-5) visits Central Michigan. Ohio can put themselves in a great spot to win the Eastern division of the MAC. I think they put the hurt on Central Michigan.

Game 2: Baylor travels to Kansas to face the lowly Jayhawks (+19.5). The weather should be real nice, this will allow the Bears to work over the Jayhawks and keep their season spiraling down. Turner Gill has one less game left in his career in Lawrence, KS. Gill will be fired at the end of the season even though this means KU will be paying 3, yes 3 football coaches next season. Mangino, Gill and the new coach. Take the Bears.

Game 3: Louisiana Tech visits the Ole Miss Rebels (+2). Nutt is out at Ole Miss, I think the team rises up to get a win for him. An SEC team at home is getting points against a WAC team that is not even leading their conference. Take the home dog, the Rebels get the win.

Quick recap, take Ohio -5, Baylor -19.5 and Mississippi +2.

To the NFL...
Washington heads to Miami which is favored after getting their first win last week against KC. Washington comes back to life in this one. Take Washington +3.5 in this game.

Chicago (-3) is favored at home against Detroit. Chicago is coming off a big win on Sunday night, I think they come back down to earth. Take Detroit to win this outright.

Quick recap: Take Washington +3.5 and Detroit +3.

NCAA Football week 10 and NFL Week 9

I must be going through a mid-year slump...I was 2-2 last week ATS bringing my overall record to 24-17-3, I must get better!

There are a lot of good games for the bettors out there. If you are going to Las Vegas, I think you can do some damage to the sports books. Remember I use the MGM Grand lines from vegasinsiders.com. The link can be found on the right hand side of my blog.

Game 1: I am staying local with this first pick. To Ames,IA we go. The lowly Kansas Jayhawks visit Iowa St (-14.5). ISU picked up a huge win last week against Texas Tech, this is normally a let down spot for a team. ISU has a bye week following this game so they will give their all. I expect Iowa St to cover and win by a score of 38-14.

Game 2: Mizzou travels to Baylor (-2). Mizzou plays in Texas for the second week in a row and are coming off a huge win at A&M. That is a lot of emotion and a lot of travel in 7 days. This is gut check time for Baylor, I believe Baylor wins, pulling away in the 4th quarter. This has nothing to do with my animosity towards Mizzou for their conference realignment garbage. They are making this much worse. I do want to hear Baylor chant "Big 12" after they take care of Mizzou. Screw the SEC!

Game 3: Cincinnati goes to Pitt (-2). Cincy is very athletic and I believe they will just overwhelm Pitt in this game. Pitt can be scary on offense so this could be a high scoring game. Take Cincy -2.

Game 4: Another local game in Iowa City. Talk about gut check time! Iowa is coming off of a horrible loss at Minnesota. Iowa is +4 right now, I do not think there is anyway they stop Michigan. Take the Wolverines to win in what could be Iowa's largest setback in a few seasons.

Game 5: Syracuse is +2 at UCONN. Wrong team is favored, Syracuse wins this game outright.

Game 6: Stanford is -21 @ Oregon St. I think Stanford will blow through the Beavers. This is a classic letdown situation for Stanford but I think OSU is that bad that it will not matter.

To the NFL.
Tebowing heads to Oakland where they are +7.5, both teams have QB issues but Oakland blows the doors off of Denver and I think signals the near end to the Tebow era.

Atlanta is -7 @ Indianapolis, take the Falcons, they make themselves right in this game.

Quick summary for College: Take Iowa State -14.5, Baylor -2, Cincinnati -2 Michigan -4, Syracuse +2 and Stanford -21.

NFL: Take Oakland -7.5 and Atlanta -7.

NCAA Football Week 9 and NFL week 8

Well the debacle that was last week is over! After going 1-4 my record falls to 22-15-3.
I'll admit I have not been doing this properly, I should not force myself to pick 5 college games each week. I will only pick 'sure things' going forward. Maybe the fix was in last week, let's just say the boys took care of Gadhafi so we should not have to worry about point shaving any more!

Ok, some picks since that is what we are here for! There is not much I like out there this week.

Game 1: Colorado St visits Las Vegas, what happens there stays there. I think it is a crime I only have to give up 2.5 points. Both teams are not good but I think CSU is much better than UNLV. Look for a double digit stomping. I take CSU -2.5.

Game 2: I am going with a total points pick on this. The Pac 12 where, defense is optional, has a shootout coming between Washington and Arizona. Future NFLer Nick Foles will help Arizona score some points and oh yeah, Washington can light up the board too. The O/U is 70.5, take the OVER!

Game 3: Oregon St has been feast or famine for me. I am going against them again because I am stubborn. They are +5 at Utah and Utah is seeking their first win in Pac 12 conference play. I think Utah gets the win in a big way.

Quick recap, take CSU -2.5, Over 70.5 in the Arizona vs. Washington game and Utah -5.

One NFL game for the week.
The New York Football Giants are -10 at home against the Dolphins. Tony Soprano may be throwing Tony Sparano into the Jersey River to sleep with the fishes after this one. Even though the Giants are flakey, I think they win this one big coming off the bye. Take NYG -10.

NCAA Football Week 8 and NFL week 7

I had an outstanding weekend, my picks were 5-2 bringing my season total to 21-11-3. When going to Las Vegas, use my picks and you will have your trip paid for! Conferences are starting to sort themselves out, some teams are thriving and some are like the walking dead. I am going to stay away from picking the local Iowa teams until I can get a better handle on them, they are both too erratic right now. Let's get on with the winners!

Let's start with the Sunflower State Showdown. Kansa State -11 visits Kansas. KU had a 'moral victory' last week against OU, only losing by 30 points. I have heard several people say KSU is on upset alert, I don't buy it. KSU will grind KU into the ground. Take KSU, they cover the spread with ease, will Turner Gill be fired after this season?

#2 Georgia Tech (+3) is a road dog at Miami. Tech wins this game outright. Take Tech and those points.

#3 Wake Forest is a road favorite (-3) at Duke. I do not think this game will be close. Take Wake Forest to cover.

#4 Washington St is (-3) a home favorite vs. Oregon St. I get the feeling they will put up a lot of points against the Beavers. Take the Cougars.

#5 Arkansas (-16) visits Ole Miss. Too much power for the Rebels to handle. Take Arkansas to cover this.

Quick recap: Take Kansas St -11, Georgia Tech +3, Wake Forest -3, Washington St -3 and Arkansas -16.

NCAA football week 7 and NFL week 6

I was extremely disappointed in my performance last week (not to mention disappointed in how some teams performed!) I went 1-3-1 Against the Spread last week and am now at 16-9-3 for the year. I think there are some good games to pick this week so let's get after it!

Going from the vegasinsiders.com site MGM Grand lines I think I have some winners. Let's start with college.

The first game is my lock of the year. My goodness, Texas is not good. Oklahoma St. is a road favorite in this game, -7.5 at the moment. I believe Okie St runs away with this game. Will this be Mack Brown's last season? Who knows, bet the mortgage on Oklahoma St. covering the 7.5.

Game #2 BYU is +1.5 at Oregon St. I am not sold on Oregon St even though they got Mike Stoops fired at Arizona after last week. BYU has been sporadic this season but I think they get it together against a BCS conference opponent. Take BYU to cover the spread and win outright.

Game #3 Iowa St is a road dog at Missouri. (+14.5) Mizzou is better than they have shown, I do not know if they are going to get their act together for Saturday. Iowa St is improving and Mizzou is a better matchup for ISU as opposed to Baylor. Look for ISU to cover this spread and have an outside shot to win this game to keep bowl hopes alive for this season.

Game #4 LSU is favored by 15.5 at Tennessee. I will say it again, LSU has the best defense in the country and is hitting their stride offensively as well. I look for a big time win against the Volunteers for LSU. They cover this spread and probably win something like 45-13.

Game #5 Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal are -21 at Washington St. I have heard comparisons of Andrew Luck to John Elway, those are pretty big shoes to fill. Stanford rolls in this game and cover the spread against the Cougars. Take Stanford with confidence.

Quick recap, take these teams: Oklahoma St. -7.5, BYU +1.5, Iowa St. +14.5, LSU -15.5 and Stanford -21.

A couple of NFL games for the week.

Green Bay is at home against St. Louis. Green Bay is -15. This is a big # in the NFL but I think they route the Rams. Take Green Bay -15.

New England is -7 at home vs. Dallas. Dallas is not good, take NE to cover this spread. I think the Patriots have learned they can grind a game out and run over teams. This is a lethal combination with Tom Brady. Take New England -7.

College football week 6 and NFL week 5

I went 4-4 last week and bring my overall record to 15-6-2. Nothing to sneeze at overall but last week was embarrassing!

I will keep it short this week. There are lots of great games but many of the lines I do not like!

Starting with the college game:
One game I do like is Iowa at Penn St. Penn St is -3.5. Iowa has owned this series and are coming off of a bye week, not to mention Penn St is bad. Wrong team is favored, Iowa wins outright.

Arizona St is -4 @ Utah. Utah's QB is hurt and they have struggled early on in the Pac 12, Arizona St covers this spread.

BYU is -13 at home vs. San Jose St, I think BYU gets things rolling here. BYU wins big and covers the 13.

Auburn is +8 @ Arkansas. Arkansas is coming off an emotional win and I think there will be a let down. Auburn is better than most people think. Take Auburn to cover the 8.

Arizona is -1 at Oregon St. Arizona has played a brutal schedule so far. I look for them to lay the wood on Oregon St.

Quick recap: Take Iowa +3.5, Arizona St -4, BYU -13, Auburn +8 and Arizona -1.

I am staying out of the NFL for now, we will see if there are any line changes closer to game day.

Week 5 College and NFL Week 4 football -ATS

I had a pretty good week 4 of college football. 4-0-1 ATS. The only thing more beautiful than that is a photo of Scarlett Johansson!

I suppose on to more serious stuff. My overall record now stands at 11-2-2 ATS, let's keep this ball rolling.
My picks are based on the MGM Grand lines found on the vegasinsider link to the right.
Lots of good college games this week, conference play gets into full swing around the country with many great matchups.

With my first pick I am going to keep it local. The Texas Longhorns visit Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. Texas comes in with revenge on their mind as they were punked by Iowa State at Texas last season. Texas will have a freshman making his first conference road start in McCoy and his first name is not Colt. The line opened up with Texas favored by 9, the line sits at Texas -9.5. I had Iowa State starting 4-0 in the 2011 season and I am not about to change it. ISU has the better running game, better o-line and I believe the better QB. Take those points given to ISU, Iowa State wins this game outright setting up a matchup of ranked teams next week between Baylor and Iowa State!

Game #2 I am taking a chance with this one but going with my gut. UCONN opened as an 8 pt (-8) favorite over Western Michigan at home. UCONN will probably be the best defensive line, maybe the best defense Western Michigan will face all season. The line has been bet down to UCONN -2.5. I am taking UCONN to cover this spread.

Game #3 Notre Dame is favored by 12 (-12) against rival Purdue. Along with the rest of the Big 10, Purdue is bad, real bad. Take Notre Dame to cover this spread with ease, game is over by halftime.

Game #4 Cincinnati visits Miami of OH is a 14 pt favorite. (-14) I am going with the road favorite, Cincy blows Miami out of the water.

Game #5 Tulane is +7.5 heading to Army. Duke laid the wood to Tulane last week, Army is a tough team to prepare for in one week with their offense. I am taking Army to cover -7.5. Army runs for over 400 yards in this game.

Quick recap, take Iowa State +9.5, UCONN -2.5, Notre Dame -12, Cincinnati -14 and Army -7.5.

Now for a couple of NFL games from vegasinsider.com
I think Detroit and Dallas is a huge game for Detroit, this can make Detroit's season by setting them up for the playoffs. Dallas is -1.5 right now. Wrong team is favored, Detroit will win this game by double digits.

Game #2 Minnesota is -1.5 @ Kansas City. I think this is the week Minnesota puts it together and gets a win. I have a feeling Minnesota wins comfortably. Take Minnesota -1.5.

Game #3 Indinapolis goes on the road to Tampa Bay. Indy is a mess and are +10, take Tampa to cover this line. Indy is a mess and going for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Tampa wins in a blowout.

Recap take Detroit +1.5, Minnesota -1.5 and Tampa -10.

Week 4 college

Well I was ok last week, 3-2 to bring my overall record to 7-2-1. I want to keep the good vibes moving. I am staring with a team I was AGAINST last week.

The UCONN Huskies are a 10 pt favorite on the road over Buffalo according to the current MGM line. I do not buy Buffalo but I do think the Huskies have a good defense, especially their front four. Once the QB situation is settled I look for the Huskies to make some noise in the Big East. I think the UCONN handles -10 in this one.

The ultimate pillow fight this weekend and it involves 2 BCS schools in the PAC 12. Oregon St hosts UCLA and they are a 4 pt favorite. The way these teams have played this season, this could be the last chance for a win for either squad. I think UCLA wins outright. Take the Bruins to not only cover but to win.

LSU is on the road at West Virginia. Does LSU have the best defense in the country? WVA is +5.5 at home in this one. WVU could be the class of the Big East but I do not think they can handle 4 quarters of LSU. This game is close until midway through the 4th quarter. LSU pulls away and wins this by double digits, the score is not indicative of the game though. LSU covers -5.5.

Michigan is -10 at home vs. San Diego St. I think Robinson lays the wood to the Aztecs. Take Michigan in a land slide. I felt Michigan was a sneaky good team as long as they could hold teams to about 5 less points/game this season. Take Michigan -10 with no worries.

Sticking with the Big 10, Penn St (-28) hosts Eastern Michigan. Eastern Michigan is not good but I also think that Penn St has been one of the most overrated schools over the last few years. 28 points is a lot of points to give. I think Eastern Michigan covers this spread.

9-17-11 results

Well I was 3-2, not great but you come out ahead. My overall record is now at 7-2-1. I may start picking some NFL games next week.

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

College Football Week 3

Well, I had a good week for week 2. 4-0-1, those darn Gamecocks kept giving up points!
As usual my picks are made based on the lines from vegasinsider.com (link on the righthand side of the page) I base my spreads on the MGM Grand line.

Some more great games this week, let's hope my picks are great as well!

If you saw my previous post you know my yop game of the week. UCONN came out as a 6.5 pt favorite and has been bet down to 4.5 over visiting Iowa State University. Iowa State has a good defense, good offensive line and an emerging QB, all things you want in a road team. Yes ISU is traveling halfway across the country for a short week after a rival game but UCONN was on the road (and lost) at Vanderbilt last week for a night so they are on a short time frame also. Take ISU, bet the mortgage, bet the dog or even the wife! ISU wins this by double digits, game is probably over by half. When in Vegas, take ISU to win outright and increase your payday.

OKIE St is -13.5 vs. Tulsa. I know this is an in state game but I think there is too much firepower on the OK St offense. I take Okie St on the road -13.5.

Notre Dame hosts Michigan St. I believe this is the toughest opponent Notre Dame has faced this season and may face all season. MSU brings a veteran QB to South Bend and ND is desperate for a win. I think ND starts this season 0-3. MSU is +5.5, MSU covers this spread. Brian Kelly on the hot seat already?

Boise St is favored by 20 at Toledo. Toledo had Ohio St on the ropes but I think they expelled to much in that game. Boise St worked this team over last year and I see no reason why they won't again. I know this is a big spread but you can give those points and more to Toledo, my pick is Boise St to cover that 20 pt spread.

Boston College is at home vs. Duke. Duke is bad, BC is not great. BC is -7, I will take that, BC wins by double digits.

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Week 3 College Football

I see UCONN came out as a 6.5 favorite over ISU, take ISU. This is a bet the mortgage weekend with that kind of line. The line has dropped a full point within an hour and a half of the line going out.

This is really a line to play and win big on. ISU packs a defense and has an offensive line that will be top tier in the Big 12. These two areas can cover a lot of mistakes in other areas of the team. FG kicking is a big issue for ISU.

2011 College football is here! Week 2 9-10-11

Sorry I missed week one folks, I was at the hospital with my wife, we had our second son! He was a big boy, 9lbs 8 oz, he's already had 4 scholarship offers to BCS conferences. :)

I think the second week of college football is one of the best of the season. There are some great non conference matchups across the board. Obviously these are some we are going to hit.

I will pick 5 games each week and upload an excel spreadsheet to keep track of how well I do, I hope I do well. The odds I used are from today at vegasinsider.com the MGM Grand spreads.

Here are my 5 for the week:

Notre Dame is at Michigan and I believe it is the first ever night game in Ann Arbor. Notre Dame is -3.5, wrong team is favored, Michigan wins this game outright.

South Carolina is on the road at Georgia, is Mark Richt gone if he loses this game? SC is -3, I feel comfortable with this pick. SC will cover, a possible double digit win on the road in the SEC which is a big deal.

Alabama is -9.5 at Penn St, Penn St is not good and has not been for awhile. To be honest, Penn St may not make a bowl game this season. Roll tide, 'Bama wins by 20.

Iowa State hosts Iowa in the battle for the Cy-Hawk tropy. After the disastrous unveiling of a new trophy, the teams are ready to meet on the field. Iowa is favored by 7 on the road. ISU beat Northern Iowa by 1 in week one. This was going minus 3 in the TO ratio, starting a new QB, having multiple injuries and 3 suspensions before the game started. Everyone is back for ISU except DL Maggitt who is out for the season. Iowa State wins OUTRIGHT, 24-16.

The final game of the week is Stanford at Duke. Stanford is favored by 21, I think Stanford more than covers, even with a new coach. Duke lost to an FCS school last week, another long season for the Blue Devils.

Good luck everyone, remember, the more you bet the more you win!
